10 Cool (+ Free) Summer Programs for Kids at Edmonton Public Library

Edmonton Public Library offers hours and hours of summer programming for toddlers and kids, free programming, that parents can take advantage of for a summer full of adventure, literature and activities at all of the local Edmonton library branches.

Ahoy Matey!
Arrr! Come join us at the library for some swashbuckling pirate stories, fun crafts, and maybe even a treasure hunt!
For Ages: 6-8

Make Your Own Adventure
Will you fight monsters, discover lost cities, or join a band of pirates? Anything is possible when you create your own story and choose the ending!
For Ages: 9-12

Pop Up Makerspace
Robot challenges, Makey Makey hacks, DIY music, Art and 3-D design are just the beginning at this Pop-Up maker event. You’re invited to drop-in, hang out, bring friends, try things and make fun stuff.
For Ages: All ages

Play Dead
The Zombie Apocalypse is upon us, do you have what it takes to survive? Bunker down at the library for spooky tales, activities and more.
For Ages: 9-12

It’s a Zoo in Here
Come and visit with some animals from the Valley Zoo! You will get a chance to meet, touch, learn about, and get closer with three different animals. A Valley Zoo interpreter will be on hand to share animal artifacts and interesting facts about the animals. (Note: This program can accommodate up to 30 children maximum.
For Ages: 6-8, 9-12

Lights! Camera! Action! 
In this program, you can write and film your own mini movie on our iPads.
For Ages: 6-12 

Electric Fun 
Come explore electricity and having a shockingly good time with our Makey Makey, Aurdino or Little Bits Kits.
For Ages: 6-8

Lego at the Library
Calling all Lego lovers! Come to the library to design and build a Lego creation. Share your building tips and tricks with others
For Ages: 6-12

Minecraft Tournament
Do you love to build and explore? Let your creativity run wild in our Minecraft tournament-build, mine and explore together in this award-winning, blocktastic multiplayer game. We bring the laptops and prizes; you bring the awesome.

Puppet Shows
Family puppet shows are one of the most fun (and free) things to do during the summer sessions at Edmonton Public library, you can watch the half hour long shows free of charge and get entertained.
For Ages: Whole Family

To take part in these programs, you simply need to register on the Edmonton Public Library website, and sign up for the programs. Show up at the many branches through the city hosting events and enjoy those summer afternoons with friends and learning something new.
