5 Convenient & Family Friendly Campgrounds Near Edmonton

There are two types of camping families. The families that search for convenient features like concession, hot showers and even a wifi connection, and families that think amenities are a creek or waterfall that can be used to clean the dirt off of the kids at the end of the day.

We’re the former – when we camp, we want convenience. We want places that are going to entertain the kids, and that are close enough for us to call it a day when one of the kids loses their mind. We want campgrounds in Alberta with hot showers, with stores where you can grab those last minute things you’ve forgotten, and that have power. If you’re new to camping with the family, or you are searching for easy camping for a quick weekend away – check out these family friendly campgrounds that come with all of the amenities you need:

Ol’ MacDonalds Campground | Family campground with the amenities that make it perfect for those families going out on their first trip, and if you’re searching for entertainment – there’s no shortage of family friendly things to do, with everything from hay rides, to a candy store.
Rates: $37/50

Wizard Lake | Sandy beach, well spaced and treed campsites and has 111 campsites in the campground. Convenient features like showers, even at the beach, concession and a playground – it’s a close by, located in Calmar.

Stargazer Campground | Close to the city and an outdoor pool, with Saturday activities for kids and fireworks and ice cream sundaes for kids at dusk. There are 40 campsites,

Carson Pegasus Provincial ParkWith the small sandy beach and a great selection of trails to explore, the provincial park is about 20 km north of Whitecourt. There are 141 campsites, and you’re nice and close to everything Whitecourt has to offer – like Rotary Park, Blue Ridge recreation area and Hard Luck canyon.

Brewer’s Campground | Located at Aspen Beach provincial park, the campground is close to the beach, playground and just ninety minutes from Edmonton. Up above, there’s a second campground option, Lakeview. Concession is right at the beach, with hamburgers, fries and ice cream, if you want to take a meal off.
