During the summer, we’re spending more and more time outside. To encourage this time spent outside, we add a few new toys to our collection. Inspired by this, we wanted to share a few of our favourites, that are fun – but are also just as durable. These toys are going to be enjoyed year after year.
Best Summer Toys for Edmonton Kids
Quut Sandtoys | Stick these ones in the bag to bring on vacation, or bring to the playground. They should definitely be on your list for that epic road trip must-haves, because you’re not going to have to suffer through broken sand and water toys. Fun, innovative toys that can be used to create stacking sandcastles, and waterfalls, while being able to easily fold into themselves for storage, you can find them at Max and Maude, one of our favourite local boutiques in Sherwood Park.
Micro Mini Scooter | Scooters are the get-around method of choice for our kids, and from the amount of Micro Mini scooters in the neighborhood, you can tell that they’re durable, popular and zoom down the sidewalks. Easily used by kids 18 months+, the Micro Mini or Micro Maxi scooters last for season after season.
Cool Pool Floats | We found some great options for pool floats at, like a chocolate covered pretzel, with lots of surface space for kids to grab on, or float on. Our favourite choices? The sprinkle donut, giant inflatable unicorn and the giant popsicle.
Green Toys Sand Toys | We’ve been using the same set of Green Toys sand toys, for the last four years of summer road trips and vacations. Durable, made from thick recycled plastic that can withstand an entire childhood, the sand toys are now available in single pieces, and great bundle packages.
Ogo Sport | These are one of the most fun toys to play with to get you moving. Whether you’re an adult or a kid, these fun back and forth toys are a great thing to bring along on a road trip. If you’ve got a bit of space, it’s never been easier to give the kids a reason to run around, and make the most of the time out of the car, or in the backyard. Our top choice? The Mezo Sports discs.
Bubbles You Can Eat | Yes, perfect for those kids that want to eat bubbles, three different flavours of Bubbles You can Eat that can be blown and caught on the tongue are available. The small packs are perfect to try, but there are many different options you can try, including a bubble machine.
Lifetime Geometric Dome Climber | One of the best toys we’ve purchased, value wise. This is a climber that will remind you of your own childhood, while providing the kids with hours and hours of entertainment as they climb on it, play under it, use blankets and clothespins to make it into a fort, and play pretend. For the price tag of under $200, at Costco, it’s one of those purchases that is going to provide hours of back yard play, all summer long.
