Edmonton Kid-Friendly Fun Runs in 2015

Fun runs are one of my favorite activities to do during the summer months. Grab a group of friends and get out there, getting a work out where the energy can only be described as infectious. Bringing the kids along can allow you to walk the walk when it comes to living an active lifestyle, and give them a healthy dose of fun (and sometimes color and bounce houses) while you’re at it.

Here are some of our favorite upcoming fun runs you can bring the kids to in Edmonton, in 2015:

Wild Ones Kids Marafun May 11, 2015
Kids can sign up to complete the 1.3 marafun, with friends, with their school or alone. It’s designed for ages 4+, and created to be one of those first marathon experiences for kids. Kids that sign up get the race bib, and a t-shirt with the sign up fee. Get the details + sign up.

Run + Walk for Pie, May 24, 2015
Every runner or walker will be rewarded at the finish line with a slice of pie. Now, that’s my kind of race. The race will begin at Kinsmen Park and venture through the river valley, in support of the Stollery children’s hospital foundation. For little kids, there’s an easy 1KM walk with a bouncy castle at the end, and cookies to entice them to get moving. Get the details + Sign up.

Color Me Rad, July 4, 2015
Color Me Rad is one of those races that I didn’t bring the kids along to the last couple of years that I’ve gone and I got looks of sheer jealousy when I came home brightly colored. This year, I thought, why not? Kids are free to sign up and you can order race packs online, to reduce the costs of entering the race. If you’re running with a toddler or infant in a stroller, I don’t think I would do it – for the sake of the stroller, and the kid. Wait until they can walk along with you and run a little too.
