What to do in Edmonton this Weekend (With Kids) | April 27-29

The spring weather is here and it is one of our favourite times of the year – we can get out and explore somewhere new, and everyone is just so happy to be outside without bulky winter jackets, it’s like the entire vibe has changed!

Strawberry Planting
At Greenland Garden centre between 10 and 12, kids can take part in strawberry planting to bring home. For a toonie donation, plant up a sweet strawberry plant for the garden. Proceeds support A Safe Place Women’s Shelter.

Explore Hard Luck Canyon
Go for a hike, and explore one of our favourite canyons, less than a couple of hours outside of the city. It’s incredible, and a fun way to get out of the house and explore somewhere new – just don’t forget your boots at home, the trails are still pretty snow covered.

When a surprise package is wrongly delivered to his house, he has to put aside his fears and all the stories he has heard about the scary house at the end of the street and deliver the package to its rightful owner. While at the house he accidentally finds a hidden treasure trove of magical secrets that belong to Mrs. Collins, the old lady that owns the house. Although Matthew lacks confidence, he learns to believe in himself and at the same time discovers links to his mysterious past and a dynasty of magicians, as he becomes “Matthew the Magnificent.”

Kids Learning Code at TWoS
Kids will have a chance to try their hand at tech-related challenges that introduce them to coding and computational thinking in a fun, engaging, and collaborative way; perfect for siblings to attend together! Less formal than our usual coding workshops, this event cycles through several different “stations” with a tech focus intended to spur creativity and problem-solving skills, rather than focusing on a specific deliverable. They’ll have some awesome help and support from our Edmonton Chapter Leads and mentors along the way, as they learn and explore and we encourage you to check out everything else TWOSE has to offer afterward!
