What to do in Edmonton This Weekend (With Kids) | August 11-13

There’s plenty of summer left – though it feels like the days are going by quick. You’ve still got time to enjoy that summer sun, get out there and discover all of the incredible playgrounds in Edmonton and cross those things off of your summer bucket list.

Spend it at the Outdoor Pool | All weekend
Outdoor pools are free for the season, so you might as well get your use out of it. It’s a fantastic way to cool off, and we’ve got a favourite pick for little kids – either Fred Broadstock (because of the fun spray stuff and shallow pool area for kids) or Queen Elizabeth because of the zero entry and the grassy area. Either way, get there early before the crowds and spend the day at the pool, for free.

Chautauqua Tent | All weekend
Games Galore, Robot Workshops, and a visit with the RCMP horse riders where you can get a sticker or a hat, are a few of the reasons you’re going to want to explore the events at the Chautauqua Tent to celebrate Canada as part of Sherwood Park’s festival, happening until the 20th of August. Get the full schedule at www.strathcona.ca.

Perseids Pajama Party | Friday, 8 pm
Bring your blanket or lawn chair, wear your cozy pyjamas and look up, way up, during one of the busiest times in the night sky. Stargazing with the Royal Astronomical Society, fun-in-the-dark family games, bedtime stories and more.

Hook – Pajama Party | Saturday, 8 am
What’s better than watching a beloved classic, curled up in your coziest PJ’s with family and friends, you ask? Getting to watch on Alberta’s largest screen – that’s what! Upgrade your ticket (at time of purchase) for just $14.00 to include a hot breakfast of eggs Benedict with homestyle hashbrowns, fresh fruit and a beverage. Breakfast service begins at 8:00 a.m.

Walterdale Block Party | Sunday, 1-4
It’s John Walter’s Birthday and we want to celebrate!  Enjoy live music, admire some antique cars, play historical games and make crafts while learning about one of Edmonton’s most successful early entrepreneurs. Fresh-squeezed lemonade and birthday cake will be served up with the fun! (While supplies last).

LEGO Batman Pajamas and Cereal Party | Saturday, 10:30
Leave your pajamas on this Saturday and join us for the Lego Batman, Pajamas and Cereal Party! Enjoy a bowl of cereal in your favorite pajamas and slippers to watch Lego Batman. Everything you need to enjoy a bowl of cereal will be provided and of course coffee for the parents who are also encouraged to wear their pajamas. Tickets just $7 each.
