The weekend is here and with it comes the arrival of fun festivals, outings and things to do with the kids in Edmonton. We’re sharing everything from a pancake breakfast for Santa’s arrival (it’s free!) to a slime filled ornament workshop that the kids are going to love (did we mention it’s super cheap!?).

Here’s how to entertain the kids this weekend, in Edmonton:

Santa’s Arrival Pancake Breakfast | Sunday
Join us as we welcome Santa Claus to West Edmonton Mall’s North Pole Place, his home away from home during the holiday season. Enjoy a Free pancake breakfast (while supplies last) and entertainment while awaiting the jolly man in red’s arrival. Guests are encouraged to bring items for the Edmonton Food Bank to help support families in our community.

Telus World of Science Weather Balloon Launch | Friday
The Science Garage team has been hard at work designing and constructing our own weather balloon, and we’re inviting you to join us on Friday, November 10, for the launch!

Makebreak: Make a Slime Ornament | Saturday
Slime is all the rage – and now you can add a bit of slime to your Christmas decor. Customize slime and put it in your very own decorated ornament. Buy the plastic ornament and the rest of the supplies will be provided, include pre-made slime!

Hit up the Toboggan Hill | All weekend
Hit up one of the local toboggan hills and get out there and enjoy the snow! We’ve got plenty of options for you to choose from in Edmonton, like this list of toddler-friendly toboggan hills in the city, or toboggan hills that are perfect for adventurous, older children.

MEC Snowfest | Saturday
Join friends at the downtown MEC location for clinics on ski waxing, cross-country basics and avalanche safety. Check out local exhibitors, win prizes, and drink hot chocolate!

$2.99 Movie: Masha and the Bear | Saturday, 11 am
Visit your local Cineplex to take advantage of the $2.99 family favourite movie. It’s a cheap way to take the family to the movies, and the movie starts at 11 am, so you can head to the theatre after breakfast and skip the expensive concessions, making it an actual cheap movie date.

Treasure Hunt | All weekend Long
Bundle up, it’s the perfect weather to go Geocaching in Edmonton with the kids. Look for winter-friendly Geocaches, using the app, and check out some of our favourite tips to get you started, here.

What are you doing this weekend with the kids? As usual, you can find even more activities on our Raising Edmonton events calendar.
