Craft Time at Michaels | Saturday, 10-12
Stop by your local Michaels store, Saturdays between 10-12, for activities the kids can complete in the craft room. These events are unparented so you can browse the store while the kids create, or stay and help. It’s $2 per craft, with a new theme every week. Contact your local store to confirm workshop.

Makebreak Gingerbread House | Saturday, 1-3
Kids and kids at heart will love this MAKEbreak! Construct an adorable gingerbread house, and try to resist the temptation to snack on your building supplies. All supplies are included when you buy a Wilton® Gingerbread Kit.

Zoominescence | Weekends in December
Edmonton, the most northern city in North America with a population of over one million, is a world renowned winter metropolis with the proud title of Festival City. This December, Zoominescence, hosted by the Valley Zoo Development Society, will stage a spectacular exhibition of artistic light installations within the unique setting of the Edmonton Valley Zoo. The festival’s vision is to celebrate light, artistry, imagination and the strong spirit of our community in the winter.

This popular event ignites the festive season with thousands of candles along the paths of the Kurimoto Japanese Garden in a breathtaking display – a quiet oasis of peace and light. Visitors can count on their favorite elements: a stroll through the candle-lit pathways, hot apple cider beside the bonfires, ice sculptures, delightful “snow sprites” and the seasonal sounds of strolling a capella singers. Let the little ones run through the Snowlight Maze; make a wish and hang it on a Wish-Upon-A-Star Tree, enjoy hot food and beverage options.

See a $2.99 Movie | Saturday, 11 am
Watch ELF on Saturday morning as part of Cineplex family favourites. It’s a cheap way to get out for the morning with the kids and leave enough room in the budget for popcorn and other movie treats. Check your local Cineplex theatre and make sure to get there early for the best seats.
