Smores, Lightsaber Lessons + 8 Other Things to do at the Strathcona County New Year’s Eve Festival

Festivals in Strathcona County are some of the best in the surrounding area of the city. With a focus on fun things to do for the entire family, New Year’s Eve at Strathcona County is no different.

Here are some of the things that you can do at the New Year’s Eve Festival at Festival Place in Sherwood Park. 

Make S’mores | Warm up with some chocolate and marshmallows smashed between a graham cracker outside of the festival. Free S’mores? There’s little better than that, really.
When + Where:

Cabane a Sucre | You know, the classic maple syrup that’s been boiled down, and placed on a stick to get that delicious maple candy.
When + Where: 4 pm outside of festival place

Make a constellation in a jar | This craft is high on my list of things that I want to do with the kids because there’s nothing cooler than the stars (until you put them in a jar).
When + Where: 4 pm at the Agora

Indoor Snowboarding | This activity is for kids aged 6+ but I’m interested in to see just exactly what it’s going to be, I’m not sure what to expect!
When + Where: Festival Place Rohit Hub at 4 pm

Luge Activity | This luge activity for kids aged 3+ is going to be an exciting way to spend the time outside, just make sure you bundle up.
When + Where: Top of Broadmoor Hill at 4 pm

Get Your Bounce On | Inflatables are one of our kids favourite activities at these types of events. They could play in those things for hours.
When + Where: 4 pm in the Agora

Marshmallow Constellation Craft | Get inspired by the night sky and make a marshmallow constellation that you can eat after you’ve made it
When + Where: Rohit Hub, Festival Place at 4 pm

Petting Zoo | Get your animal petting on in the petting zoo in this activity that’s suitable for all ages, where you can get up close and personal with some of your favourite farm animals.
When + Where: Galleria Hallway in the Community Centre

Fire Dancers | Fire dancers are going to be the highlight of the night for little kids. You can sip on free hot chocolate while you enjoy the show.
When + Where: outside of Festival Place at 5 pm

Light Saber Lessons | Light Saber lessons are going to help to determine if the strong with you. There are lessons for all ages, and the chance to try your hand at the force.
When + Where: Festival Place at 6 pm

There’s so much fun and so many things to discover at the Strathcona County New Year’s Eve Festival – the county does an incredible job each year at creating activities that are going to be exciting for kids of all ages and their families. Finish the night off with a fireworks celebration, and bring in 2016 in time for the kids bedtime.
