What to do in Edmonton This Weekend (With Kids) July 15-17

Fri-Yay, Fri-Yay – we’ve been looking forward to this all week. It’s summer camp season for us – so we’re going to have a week’s worth of quiet days – but if your kids aren’t heading out to summer camp and you’re searching for some activities to keep them busy, we’ve got you covered.

Here’s what to do this weekend in Edmonton with kids: 

Grand Opening BBQ At Windermere Orthodontics201 – 5540 Windermere Blvd SW
Windermere Orthodontics is having a grand opening and there’s going to be a BBQ, superhero visits, family fun, face painting, contests and more.
When: Saturday, 12-4

Giant Slip n Slide| Father Jan Elementary School (St. Albert)
Affordable family fun is easy this year – and it’s just as easy to give back, with this fun event on July 16, 2016. Bring the family to experience 4 giant slip n slides, set up in St. Albert to support charity and have an afternoon of family fun.
When: Saturday, 12-3

X-box Dance Party | Lois Hole (Callingwood) Library
We’ve got the games, you bring the moves! Show off your dance skills – or two left feet – with games like Just Dance and Dance Central.
When: Friday, 3pm

Outdoor Movie – Batman v Superman | Central Park Spruce Grove
The Lions Log Cabin Youth Mentorship program presents outdoor movie night in Central Park! Bring a lawn chair or blanket. The feature film will be Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Come get settled in, food and snacks will be offered starting at 8 p.m. and the movie will begin at 9 p.m. Free popcorn will be available to the first 100 people with more available for sale. The Log Cabin concession will be open for snacks and beverages, and Perks Coffee House will be on site with their Double Decker bus.
When: Friday, 9 pm

Fire Station Open House | 5025 118 Avenue
Meet your local community Firefighters and Fire Prevention Officers along with staff from Office of Emergency Management for a FREE Fire Station Open House. Check out the fire trucks and equipment, learn how to be fire safe, and know how to prepare your family in case of an emergency.
When: Saturday, 12-4

Street Performer’s Festival | Churchill Square
Street performers, food trucks with delicious things to eat and activities for kids throughout the entire festival, you’re not going to want to miss this one – because there’s so much to see and do. Make sure to check out the festival schedule and plan just what you’re going to bring the kids downtown to see.
When: July 8-17

Sand on Whyte | Whyte Ave
Sand on Whyte is bringing the beach to you with an awesome installation of sand sculptures on Whyte Ave through the month of July. If you haven’t seen them, you’re going to want to plan a day to come down and check it out. Admission is by donation, and you can bring a picnic and check out a local park after you’ve seen what’s new this year.
When: Extended until July 17th

Parks Day at Elk Island Park | Elk Island Park
Get back to nature this Parks Day at Elk Island National Park. Sit back to enjoy musical performances by local artists. Children and adults alike will experience nature like never before. Try your hand at “Learn To” activities including fire building and canoeing! Come out to Elk Island National Park and experience the great Canadian tradition of a day at the park with your friends and family!
When: Saturday, 12-4

Play $5 Games of Laser Tag | Laser City
All summer long, kids can come out and play $5 games of laser tag (as can the whole family) at Laser City. It’s the perfect time to come out and play, enjoying a game of fun laser tag, and heading out downtown for a splash in the fountains close by when you’re finished.
When: all weekend long
