What to do in Edmonton This Weekend (with Kids) July 8-10

The first week of summer has been an easy one around here. We’ve been enjoying those days where we can lounge by the pool, on vacation. If you’re starting to get a little anxious about finding activities to fill up those days, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered.

Here’s what to do this weekend in Edmonton, with kids:

Dance Party at the Library | McConachie – Library Open Area
Come to the library for a dance party!  We’ll share some stories about music and dancing and then we’ll have a dance party of our own.
When: Saturday, 11 am

Save Our Sea Ice Day | Edmonton Valley Zoo
Did you know that the Edmonton Valley Zoo is an ambassador for Polar Bears International? Together we are fighting against climate change, helping to keep our arctic friends from losing their homes! Arctic crafts, science experiments, and other activities are sure to keep you busy. Learn how you, too, can be an ambassador for Saving Our Sea Ice!
When: Saturday, 12-4

Orbis Sports Festival | NAIT
ORBIS SPORTS “PLAY FESTIVAL” a day full of bubble games, bouncy castles, magic shows, live music and an open jam! Tickets are $10/individual, $30/day pass and $75 for the family.
When: Saturday, 12-4

Family Drive in Movie Night | 2707-34 Street
Join us in the Corpus Christi parking lot for Family Drive-in Movie Night featuring Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day! Tickets $20/vehicle (up to 5 people/vehicle) available at the parish office. Concession on-site: popcorn & refreshments
When: Friday, 10pm-midnight

Get a $1 Sandwich at Press’d | 12550 137 Ave NW
Hello Friends! You are invited to join us for our Grand Opening of Press’d Kensington, our newest location in North Edmonton. Ribbon cutting will be Saturday, July 9th at 10:30am, and when we open our doors at 11:00am, all sandwiches will be $1.
When: Saturday, 11-3

Street Performer’s Festival | Churchill Square
Street performers, food trucks with delicious things to eat and activities for kids throughout the entire festival, you’re not going to want to miss this one – because there’s so much to see and do. Make sure to check out the festival schedule and plan just what you’re going to bring the kids downtown to see.
When: July 8-17

Sand on Whyte | Whyte Ave
Sand on Whyte is bringing the beach to you with an awesome installation of sand sculptures on Whyte Ave through the month of July. If you haven’t seen them, you’re going to want to plan a day to come down and check it out. Admission is by donation, and you can bring a picnic and check out a local park after you’ve seen what’s new this year.
When: July 1-10, 2016

McLeod River Tubing Day | Whitecourt
Come down to Whitecourt and take part in some fun, during the McLeod River tubing day. Bring your tube, sunscreen, water shoes (see what else to bring at the link above) and experience one of the many cool things to do in Woodlands County. There are free hot dogs and water, and you can enjoy the day experiencing somewhere new to tube, at just over an hour from Edmonton.
When: July 9, 1-5
