What to do in Edmonton this Weekend (with Kids) May 6-8

What are you doing with the kids this weekend? From checking out some of the best splash parks in the city and ice cream, to indoor activities in Edmonton for kids – it’s your chance to get out there and enjoy yourself – and the beginning of the warm weather.

PD Day fun at Allstars | Looking for something to do with the kids tomorrow on PD day? Come down to Allstars, a cash donation or a toiletry donation to the Canadian Red Cross’s Fort McMurray relief fund will get you in to play.

Hit up the Splash Park | Though the splash parks aren’t officially opened until after May long weekend, we’ve been to a handful around the city and they’ve been fully operational. If you’re trying to cool off, hit up your local one. Check out our favourites, in our Edmonton Spray Park Guide.

Founder’s Day | From 1912 through to 1938, the Rutherford family hosted a Founder’s Day celebration. Mr. Rutherford and the University of Alberta graduating students would plant a tree on campus and then return to the family home for a luncheon. Join us for refreshments and plant flower seeds in Mrs. Rutherford’s historic garden.

Wild Things at John Janzen | Join an interpreter for a hands-on sensory exploration of the plants and animals that make the river valley their home. Spend some time exploring and playing in our beautiful backyard! Activities will vary; please check with the interpreter when you arrive to find out what activity is planned for Wild Things!
Where: John Janzen Nature Centre
When: Saturday and Sunday, 1 pm and 2:30 pm

Touch Tank Exploration at Telus World of Science | Hold a sea star, hunt for decorator crabs and see how fast shrimp can move with guided hands-on interactions of our aquarium by TWOSE staff scientists. Don’t forget to say hello to Doc, TWOSE’s resident celebrity surgeonfish.

Inflatables in the Pool | Head over to Millennium Place, for the price of regular admission, kids can run on the inflatable obstacle course in the deep pool. It’s a fun way to tire the kids out for an easy weekend bedtime.
