What to do in Edmonton This Weekend (with Kids) | November 11-13

With gorgeous weather and plenty of options to get you outside, there’s lots to do in Edmonton this weekend with family and kids.

Holiday Light up on the Square | Sir Winston Churchill Square
Kick off the holiday season at the DBA Holiday Light Up! Enjoy an afternoon of live entertainment including music and dance, and delicious treats from local food trucks! Join Santa and his helpers in a countdown at 6:30 pm to light up the massive Christmas tree and launch a spectacular fireworks display.

World Kindness Day | Edmonton Valley Zoo
The ripple effect starts with one. One person to hold open a door. One person to plant a tree. One person to care for the animals. Come down to the Edmonton Valley Zoo to celebrate World Kindness Day and help us “Be Kind” to our environment, animals, and each other. Create environmentally friendly crafts, learn about the world and how you can help save it through hands on science experiments, and help us make the world a better place for our fellow human and animal friends!

John Janzen’s Backyard | John Janzen Nature Centre
Get outside and experience the plants and animals of the River Valley through games, explorations and hands on activities. Topics change frequently, so please check when you arrive

Free Family Yoga Class | Glow Yoga Kids
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience yoga and all it’s wonder! The spontaneity, creativity, adventure, fun & connection that it ignites brightens the lives of those it touches & everyone deserves that light. Santa’s Holiday Skate | West Edmonton Mall
Welcome Santa Claus to West Edmonton Mall, his home away from home during the holiday season. Enjoy a live orchestra and free holiday skate with Santa Claus and some of his friends! After the skate, swing by North Pole Place at Centre Stage to cap off the morning where the first 100 families to have their photo taken with Santa will receive a free holiday gift!

Red Fish Blue Fish Christmas Marketplace | Fort Saskatchewan
Shop early this holiday season from over 25 handmade crafters, meet Santa both days from 11am to 2pm. The event is free for everyone, we ask you bring a non-perishable food bank donation.

Get out for a Hike | McTaggart Sanctuary
Get out and explore one of the most fun places to discover trails, in the city. You’ll feel like you’ve left the city as you go up and down on the trails, walking by small creeks, birds and places to play and discover. Look for the blue bridge, start there, from the parking lot.
