What to do This Weekend in Edmonton (With Kids) August 5-7

The Cariwest Parade, the chance to get out of town at the Vegreville fair and so much to explore within (and outside of) the city this weekend. Whether you’re staying in the city, or going outwards – there’s no reason to hear ‘I’m bored’ coming from the kids.

Cariwest Parade (and Festival) | 99 Avenue & 108 Street NW
Edmonton will be in full festival mode as Cariwest takes to the streets with our Great Parade. See the most spectacular costumes in our street party. The parade begins at 99 Avenue & 108 Street NW, parade ends at Sir Winston Churchill Square.
When: Saturday, 12-2

Edmonton Airshow | Villeneuve Airport
The Edmonton Airshow is an entertainment spectacle that celebrates both the rich history and the modern evolution of aviation, particularly in Edmonton. Edmonton’s history of flight began at Canada’s first licensed municipal airport, Blatchford Field. As the capital region grew so did its’ need and demand for flight. Today, scheduled passenger flights operate out of Edmonton International Airport (YEG) and general aviation (commercial and private) at Villeneuve Airport (CZVL).

Dance Class at Miller Crossing Farmer’s Market | 14339 – 50 St
Come and join us today from 10:00am – 3:00pm and see what your local farmers market has to offer this weekend!  We have fresh local produce, baking’s, meats, crafts, live music, kids entertainment, free kids dance lessons and so much more!

Meet your Neighbours in Montrose | Montrose Community League
Do you live in Montrose? Join us for a family friendly BBQ. We will have food, family, friends and fun. There will be kids activities to keep everyone entertained.
When: Saturday, 1-5

Bird Banding and Learning | Strathcona Science Park
Janos Kovacs and volunteers will host us at the Strathcona Science Park beginning at 7 am on Sat Aug 6 to see bird banding. Learn how birds are caught safely and banded in order to study their migratory behaviour and such things as longevity and range. We will see different species of warblers and sparrows. Children as young as 4 years old are welcome to attend. Note there are no washroom facilities at the Science Park. Registration is required: To register, email us at wbuedmonton@gmail.com or call us. Harvest Days in Bon Accord | 4812 52 Street, Bon Accord
This summer festival takes place in August, this year August 5 – 6, and includes a myriad of activities.  Something for all ages, starting with a slo-pitch tournament, followed by a parade, family games, petting zoo, pancake breakfast, teen dance.  Come out and join in the fun!

Rock’n August Street Dance |  St Anne Street, St Albert
Local Entertainers, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, will hit the stage for three exciting sets of your favorite dance music at 8PM.  Be there for a great night in downtown St. Albert.
When: Friday, 8-11 pm
