What To Do this Weekend in Edmonton (With Kids) September 9-11

Are you back in the swing of things when it comes to school lunches? This week’s mornings have come extra early, but it’s made bedtime that much easier – now, we’re fitting in most of our fun through the weekends because with swimming lessons and yoga in the evenings, the kids are exhausted.

Make and Take at Toys R Us | Toys R Us
Make and take mini Lego sets, where you can choose from a Captain America or Lumiere, from Beauty and the Beast, at your local store. Designed for kids between 4-14, there is one build per child, on a first come first serve basis.
When: Saturday, 11 am

Fall Family Fun DayJoin the Glastonbury Community League on our annual Fall Family Fun Day! Petting Zoo, Bounce House, Glitter Tattoo’s, Hot Dogs, Cotton Candy, Bubbles, Games & more! Admission for GCL members is free with your 2016/17 family membership (will be available for purchase at the event) For Neighboring Community League members, admission is $15 per family.

Mid Autumn Lantern Festival | Sir Winston Churchill Square
See Downtown Edmonton light up with Chinese lanterns and come alive with music, people and activities on September 10th at Churchill Square. Expect a feast for the senses as Churchill Square transforms into a Chinese style Bazaar lined with food trucks, vendor stalls, music, mooncakes, games, a lover’s lane, pumpkin eating and latern-making contests and dozens more activities. This family-oriented event kicks off with cultural performances at 1:00 pm and continues with an entire day of dynamic and colourful programming. At 8pm, you can float a lantern in city hall pool ($3) and enjoy the spectacular end to the day.

Playful Downtown Pilot Project | City Hall Plaza
Child Friendly Edmonton is looking to make the downtown core more playful by making it a fun and safe place to be for children and their families. The pilot project will provide quality experiences, features and events for children and families in and around downtown.
When: Saturday, 12-3

Up, Up and Away Movie Night | Glenridding Heights
Join us at our showhome event for a screening of the movie Up. Don’t forget to bring your blanket and chair! Free snacks will be provided by Fat Franks. Showhome event between 4-8, movie starts at 8:30.
When: Saturday, 4-10

Dark Sky Campfires | Elk Island Park
Leave behind the city lights and visit Elk Island National Park for an evening of night sky splendor! Search for stars or the awe-inspiring Northern Lights, and discover all that you can see and do under dark skies.
When: Friday, 8:30 – 9:30

Callingwood Cornfest | The Marketplace at Callingwood
Fresh, hot buttered taber corn from Tanner Farms (by donation), Hot dogs and other delicious food & refreshments, Fire truck tours with the Edmonton Firefighters, Petting zoo and Pony rides, Bouncy castles with Games. Tickets are available for games, etc. on site.
When: Saturday, 12-5

Blue Quill Party in the Park | Blue Quill Community
It is our pleasure to bring Party in the Park back for a fourth year, allowing you to enjoy local music right in your own neighborhood! Party in the Park is a free local music festival organized and brought you by volunteers. Suitable for all ages and music fans featuring beer gardens, face painting, fireworks, various music stages, and much more.
When: Saturday, 11-11
