Where to Buy (And Learn About) Cloth Diapers in Edmonton

There’s a learning curve when it comes to cloth diapering – especially when you’re new to the game. Sure, you can learn about cloth diapers on the internet – from the hundreds of articles, videos and blogs – but there’s something to be said about learning from a local workshop. Getting in a room with experts, touching the different diapers, learning what has worked best for them and getting advice from people you trust.

Cloth Diapering in Edmonton

Even my husband is on board!  Sure, he’s needed a couple lessons on getting the snaps done up correctly, but he even uses the diaper sprayer on a regular basis, and has the laundry routine perfected.  He still calls me for backup for the big stinkers.  But, hey, no mother complains about a husband who changes diapers, right? Speaking of cloth diapering lessons, we took the workshop at All Natural Babies and had all of our questions answered (and more)

Why Choose Cloth?

1.  No blowouts.  I smile inside when my mom friends share poop-explosion stories.  We’ve never had one.  Cloth diapers hold the messiest poops because they simply fit better.

2.  Fewer diaper rashes.  Cloth diapers breathe better, and have no chemicals for your sensitive little skin to react to.  They are also less likely to breed yeast, and prevent little testicles from overheating (which some argue is linked to lowered sperm count later in life)

3.  Cloth diaper booty.  There is nothing cuter than a big ole baby bum decked out in adorable dinos.  Not to mention,  you can get custom prints, as well as themed diapers from your favourite movies.  Join the cloth culture!  Babies are making a fashion statement.

4.  Reduce your carbon footprint.  It actually takes disposable diapers hundreds of years to decompose in a landfill.   You can easily go through 5000+ disposable diapers with one baby alone!  I have 40 diapers that will not only last me for one kid, but I can reuse for the second one as well.  Don’t forget disposable wipes (which you can also substitute with cloth).

5.  Let’s be honest, it’s really about the money. My entire stash set me back about $600 total.  You can cloth diaper for less, I have a mix of inexpensive and top of the line brands.  Sure, the up-front cost is more, but over the course of the cloth diapering-career of one baby, I’m saving hundreds if not upwards of a thousand dollars.   And when I’m ready to get rid of them, I’ll resell them for at least half of what I paid.
