15 Places to Book Kids Summer Outdoor Birthday Parties in Edmonton

Summer birthday season makes it easy to get outside, and get the chaos out of your house. We’ve got a handful of favourite places to host kids birthday parties, outside, in Edmonton. Naturally, we wanted to share some of our top picks, so you can get to planning those outdoor birthday parties for kids in Edmonton.

Where to host kids outdoor birthday parties in Edmonton & area

Broadmoor Lake | The newest (and best) spray park in Edmonton area is here, with a great big playground and covered picnic shelter. The picnic shelter can be booked for events from the first week in May – September 30 and is available from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. The fire pit, running water and five picnic tables make it a fantastic outdoor space!

Coronation Park | You probably know this park as the one that’s close to the Telus World of Science, but these picnic shelters are fantastic, spaced out, and offer lots of space for play for larger families and get together.

Borden Park | Borden Park has four sites that can be reserved ahead of time, and 28 sites that are available on a first come, first serve basis. Sites don’t have power, bbqs or stoves, and are in one of our favourite locations in the city, with so much to explore.

River Valley Adventure Parties | From the Little Squirrels birthday party, to the ultimate survivor birthday party, these parties are held outside, in the River Valley and allow you to not only choose it as a party locale, but take advantage of themed parties and programming, rentals like bannock and hot dog sticks with fire pits for the ultimate in party fun.

Valley Zoo | A tented picnic site can be booked at the Valley Zoo for an affordable party in the outdoors. It’s a fun way to get out, and affordable at only $33/hour for the rental (additional cost for admission for the birthday party guests and minimum two hour rate). Parents can even add on interpretive visits with animals, as a party option.

Strathcona Wilderness Centre | Strathcona Wilderness Centre can be booked for outdoor parties, with multiple programming options available. This is a great option if you want to plan something to entertain the kids, without just bringing along some balls and frisbees.

Prairie Gardens | Prairie Gardens & Adventure Farm is an ideal location for birthday parties with Adventure Play, Gem Mining,  Amazing Mazes, Petting Farm, Prairie Gardens Express Train and lots of open space to run free! All weather pavillions can be rented on site. You can choose from campfires, flash light mazes and farm adventure fun.

Cloverbar Ranch Spray Park | This free option in Sherwood Park has a ton of green space where you can set up chairs and blankets, and a few picnic tables if you get there early enough in the day. It’s a popular spray park for summer birthday parties in the summer, and has a great playground and splash pad for summer get-togethers.

Kinsmen Park | With plenty of space from greenery to shaded areas, and picnic sites are served on a first come, first serve basis. The playground, water spray park and shaded areas make it an attractive option for parties, but you’re going to have to get there early to claim a space.

Rundle Park | There are six picnic sites that can be reserved at Rundle Park, perfect for a birthday party, as the playground area is always a kid-favourite, and there’s a loop perfect for kids to bring along the bikes. BBQ pits and stoves are available, so you can bring your own wood along and make lunch.

Mill Creek Ravine Park | The walk in picnic sites at Mill Creek Ravine Park are one of our favourite ways to feel like we’re outside of the city,  but still close enough to have everything that we need on hand.

Gold Bar Park | With a good mix of reserved sites, and sites that can be claimed on a first come, first serve basis, it’s a good place to host a party. BBQ pits are available for lunch, but you are going to have to bring your own wood, and canopied sites are available for reserved sites, to provide a bit of shelter.

Edmonton Corn Maze | Take advantage of discounted admission rates for groups at specific times, and the private BBQ pit, at Edmonton Corn Maze. Not only can you have a BBQ at the farm, but you can also take part in all of the fun on-site, while the kids and adults run through the maze, trying to discover the way out. Sites are available for booking on a tw0-hour basis.

Jackie Parker Recreation Area | There are four picnic sites available for reservation near one of the biggest playgrounds in the city, and a bunch of first come, first serve sites. A popular place for kids birthday parties because of the fun spray park and playground, you should book this site early in the year.
