Disney+ Launched in Canada Today and Here’s What You Need to Know

Disney+ Launched in Canada today, and as expected, it’s awesome. The first year of the service will include 25 new original series, 10+ movies, 7,500 past episodes, 100 recent movies, and 400 library titles that will include the entire Disney vault!

One of the original shows that we’re most excited about, is the Star Wars spinoff, The Mandalorian, directed by Jon Favreau. I mean, that and the revamp of Lizzie Maguire!

We found every single Disney movie on our list of films we wanted to watch, and so many series. As a family that deals in digital downloads, it’s an incredible money saver for us – as we usually pay for movies on iTunes, through the Apple store, that the kids will watch over and over, and over.

HOW CAN YOU WATCH?

We’ve watched on our Smart TV, computer and have downloaded the apps on to our phones and iPads. You can download movies and TV shows from Disney+ on up to 10 mobile devices. Downloads are supported on iPhone, iPad, Android phones, and Android tablets (including Amazon Fire tablets). They are not available on laptops. You can also add movies to a watch list to create a running playlist!

Disney+ is compatible with most streaming players, gaming consoles, smart TVs, mobile devices, tablets, and smartphones. We tested it and it worked on all our devices, from our Smart TV to iPad, Phone and Macbook.

HOW MUCH DOES DISNEY+ COST IN CANADA?

The subscription is available for $8.99/month, or $89/year. There’s a free seven day trial when you sign up, so you can sign in, and check out the selection of movies and programming.

YOU CAN MAKE PROFILES

Yes, similar to Netflix, you’re able to create multiple watch profiles for everyone in the family. If you have a Marvel fan, you can separate that from the Disney series. We love this feature of streaming services, it makes it so much easier to customize the watching experience.

There are 12+ Disney originals to watch right now. If you’re a Disney parks fan, you’re going to love the Imagineering series, and there’s been a lot of hype about the Mandalorian in our house. The original programming, combined with the fact that you can get full access to your favourite Disney movies and television series is the reason that we think it’s going to become one of our favourite streaming service.
