Eating with Kids in Edmonton: Thanh Thanh Oriental Noodle House #yeg

Thanh Thanh Oriental Noodle House EdmontonThere’s little better when you’re eating with the kids in tow than getting your food quickly, and at Thanh Thanhs, it’s always fast. This time around, we got our satay soup moments after being seated and the spring rolls a minute later. Quickly following that were the three entrees and rice, and already servers had refilled our water.

Tip: You can park in the back of the building, 10718 101 ST NW.

Ginger beef, Beef with lemongrass in spicy coconut sauce and lemon chicken are our go-to favorite dishes, that we get every time we have dinner or lunch at Thanh Thanhs. The beef with lemongrass in spicy coconut sauce is what my dreams are made of, and the Dad usually doesn’t even open the menu, as he claims the ginger beef is the best he’s tasted. Both dishes are entrees the kids enjoy, but they devour the lemon chicken, every single time – it’s their favorite.

Tip: our kids love the beef satay, a sure bet for kids who don’t mind a bit of spice. Plus, it’s served on a stick, so you can’t go wrong with food served on a stick to children.

The Beef satay soup was something new we tried on this visit, and the kids enjoyed the noodles, as much as we enjoyed the overall broth. It was the perfect level of spice, and we had half of the dish left over to bring home for lunch the next day (and half of the entrees leftover too).

Price wise, it’s right on par with what I would expect to pay for a meal for four. With tip, the price is usually just under $80. Keep in mind that we usually order an extra bowl of rice to bring home, because we have enough leftovers for a lunch or late night snack during date night in the next night to justify the splurge that comes with a trip to our favorite downtown Vietnamese Restaurant.
