What to do in Edmonton this Weekend (With Kids) | October 6-9

Fall is here, and so are the gorgeous trails ready for exploring and discovering. With weather that’s warmed up a little, we’re getting outside as much as possible, exploring some of our favourite places in and around the city.

Gateway to the Stars at Elk Island | Saturday
Experience the wonder of Elk Island’s night sky. In the heart of the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve, escape the city and gaze upon the countless stars in our galaxy with a friendly park interpreter. $15 per person, registration and information is available at the Elk Island National Park Visitor Centre: 780-922-5790.

See A Giant Pumpkin | Saturday, October 7th
Start the day with a pancake breakfast. After a day full of fun, there’s the giant pumpkin drop. Where else in the province are you going to be able to experience seeing a giant pumpkin dropped from high in the air, and smash on the ground? There are activities all day for families and children, and you can end the day with the giant pumpkin drop!

Chapters Indigo Hatchimal Day | Saturday, 11 am

Village at Griesbach Grand Opening | Saturday and Sunday
Family activities, bouncy castles, family activities, kids crafts between noon to five on Saturday and Sunday. Come for the family fun and explore the gorgeous new showhomes.

Haunted Pumpkin Festival | Saturday and Sunday
The Haunted Pumpkin Festival at Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm, attracts families from across the nation to Edmonton’s countryside every fall! An autumn outing to the pumpkin patch and this charming month-long Halloween festival is an annual tradition. There’s been over 1 million guests to the farm have enjoyed the farm since 1956!

Spruce Grove Park Crawl | Saturday
4 Parks-1/2 hr per park-rake big piles of leaves, play with your kids at the park-jump in piles-win free door prizes, have free coffee and hot chocolate! Pack everyone up and do it at the next park again. Hang with your fam and others for a couple hours! FINAL STOP-free hot dogs – it’s going to be a fun day out with the kids.
