Guide: Here are All the Family-Friendly Halloween Events, Activities and Parties Happening in Edmonton 2019

It’s the first day of fall, and we’re taking the opportunity to get in the mood for Halloween – after all, we’re just a month away from our favourite holiday! You’ll find pumpkins on our step, spooky decorations scattered around our house, and Edmonton halloween events on our calendar. 

Here’s what to do to celebrate Halloween in Edmonton 2019

Haunted Pumpkin festival at prairie gardens | Until october 31

The Haunted Pumpkin Festival at Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm, attracts families from across the nation to Edmonton’s countryside every fall! An autumn outing to the pumpkin patch and this charming month-long Halloween festival is an annual tradition. There’s been over 1 million guests to the farm have enjoyed the farm since 1956!

Festival is Open Saturdays, Sundays and Thanksgiving Holiday Monday. The Adventure Farm Activities are also open on Fridays, (Special Entertainment like Magic Shows available only on Weekends) and weekday afternoons for Pumpkin sales. Please do not plan to come to visit us on Weekday Morning (Monday thru Thursday), as we are are open only for pre-registered guided school field trips from 9am – 12pm. On Fridays and weekends, we are open to the public all day.

Explore the Lakeland Haunted House | October 18 – 31

Explore Lakeland Haunted House! Don’t forget the food bank donations! The opening night will be Friday, October 18th and we will be open every night up to and including October 31st. Our hours will be Mon-Fri 5pm-9pm and Sat-Sun 3pm-9pm. We are hoping that the earlier times on the weekend will help accommodate the ones who might not be as brave at night. One thing that we have not changed is that there will be no live people within the haunted house to do the scaring. Our scares come from decorations, atmosphere and animatronics.

Spooky Sleepover at the Multicultural Centre | October 17

Back by popular demand! A evening of spooky fun and games and a sleepover! $35 per guest For kids 7 – 12 years old A night of local ghost stories, snacks, games, treasure hunt and more. After an evening of spooky excitement, our young guests will have special access to sleep in the Cabin loft.

Halloween Haunt at Servus Place | October 18 

Servus Credit Union presents the Halloween Haunt! Join us for a ghoulishly good time! Admission: Drop-in admission or membership required. Wristbands are available for purchase October 18 starting at 5:30 a.m. We’ll have something for all ages, featuring some spooktacular activities in the following locations: SECOND FLOOR MEZZANINE Spooky Crafts Creepy Crawly Pets St. Albert Public Library StoryWalk Appropriate for all ages GYM COURTS Inflatable Haunted House Appropriate for all ages

Family Halloween Art Party | october 19

Perfect for babies, tots, and older children, join us this October for our family Halloween Art Party! Come dressed in your favourite fall outfit or Halloween costume as the morning will begin with a mini fall or Halloween-themed photo session with Roughley Originals Photography! Then, you and your child will paint a one-of-a-kind keepsake plate to treasure for years to come, using your child’s footprint, handprint, or finger prints. The design is ultimately up to you. Treats will be served while you paint.

Rocky Horror Picture Show at Metro Cinema | October 19

Let’s Do the Time Warp Again! Join us and the Low Down Cheap Little Punks for a night out you’re going to remember for a very long time. Audience participation is encouraged. Dress up, bring props, and sing along! And yes, you can bring your own props! (We will also be selling prop kits in the lobby for $10, quantities limited.)

McConachie Halloween Parade Walk/Run | October 20 

Come dressed in your Halloween finest as we run or walk 5 KM through McConachie. We go rain or shine, but if the weather is chilly, we’ll have hot chocolate to help warm you up. The start and finish is at the new McConachie Playground at 180 McConachie Drive. This is not a timed event. It is open to all ages, strollers and wagons are welcome, but due to start and finish location we unfortunately cannot allow pets.

Visit the Summerside Haunted Houses | October 21, 22, 23

Looking for a good scare this Halloween? Look no further and put on your bravest face. Candy donations accepted for Grande Blvd residents. October 21, 22 & 23 2019 Lights ON 4:00pm-5:30pm Lights OFF 5:30pm-8:30pm

Rutherford Manor Haunt (OLDER KIDS 10+) | October 24 – Nov 1 

Our haunted house is not intended for small children, although all children are admitted. It is not recommended for children under the age of 10, it is SCARY!!! Fog machines, strobe lights, lasers and extreme noises are used in our haunt.

Harry Potter Themed Cooking Class | October 25 

Calling all wizards and muggles alike! Kids can spend their PD Day using their wizarding skills in the kitchen, making recipes that pay homage to the great Harry Potter. We’ll be making chocolate pretzel wands, cauldron cakes and other magical treats.

Trunk or Treat at Belmont Sobeys | October 25 

Open the trunk, and hand out tricks and treats to the little ghouls and goblins going from vehicle to vehicle trick or treating. If you just want to come and join in the fun but not dress up a vehicle you are still more than welcome to do so. our parking lot will be transformed into a trick or treaters dream. we will be handing out a grand prize for the best dressed vehicle, and also a prize for best costume.

Barrhead Pumpkin Walk | October 25 

We are excited to begin planning the thirteenth annual Pumpkin Walk, with the great success of last year’s event, we are pleased to announce that the Pumpkin Walk will again be held at the Agrena Sports Grounds. This year’s Pumpkin Walk will be running Friday, October, 25th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. There will be a fireworks exhibition starting around 8:00pm. This year’s event will include: • Barrhead Elementary School – 600 pumpkins carved by local students. • Hot Dogs and Hot chocolate • Footwork’s Spooky Dancers • Firework Display • Booths and Treats for all the attendees.

Morinville Family Fright Halloween Dance | October 25 

Bring the family for an evening of spooky family fun and enjoy dancing, costume prizes and snack concession – all in a family friendly environment. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. This is a ticketed event. Tickets are Free with a donation to the Morinville Food Bank. Free tickets* available October 1 – 3 for Morinville residents at Morinville Community Services, ID required for proof of residency. Tickets available to general public October 4. *While quantities last, limit of 8 tickets per person.

Colchester Community Haunted House | October 25/26

Join us for our 3rd annual Haunted House! A night of fun and scares where the community hall is converted into a haunted house! Both upstairs and downstairs – complete with lights, sounds and live actors! You might even get your photo taken during the event! Watch out those ghouls are trixy this time of year. Find it at: Colchester Community League, Twp Rd 520, Sherwood Park, October 25 and 26, 7-10 pm.

Hotel Transylvania Costume Party in the IMAX | October 26 

Let the Halloween festivities begin early this year! Wear your Halloween costume* and join us for spooky science & a delightfully frightful film! Breakfast* & Halloween-themed Activities begin at 8:00 a.m. Arrive early to enjoy a hot breakfast of Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, fresh fruit, and your choice of any size beverage. Plus, a regular sized popcorn for just an additional $15 (+GST).

Hallo-Whinny Family Event at Whitemud Equine Centre | October 26

Spooky Saturday at the Museum | October 26 

Come visit Strathcona County Museum where the Museum has been transformed into a spooky sight! October 26th , 6-9 pm.

Fraser ‘Halloween at the Hall’ | October 26 

Hallo-queen (Halloween at the Hall) October 26 Time: 6-9 pm Come together as a family for this all inclusive event. For the second year running we will have themed bake sale to support Fraser Redevelopment! More information on this event to come, keep your eyes on our facebook page or website.

Kids Halloween Party in Kensington | October 27 

Kensington Communtiy League Welcomes all the little ghouls, goblins, princesses and superheroes to start Halloween off with a party!! Come show us your great costumes Free Snacks, Games & Crafts.

Skate and Scare | October 27

Have fun with the family and get in the spirit of Halloween at this NO COST themed skate at Kinex Arena! Enjoy games, hot chocolate, and timbits. Wear your costume and come experience the best way to skate into the Halloween season.

Bountiful Halloween at the Farmer’s Market 

Come join us for a family friendly celebration of Halloween! All weekend long we’ll have kids crafts and activities as well as fantastic stage entertainment. Sunday, Oct 27 be sure to come dressed up in your Halloween best! Family Dance Party: 3-5pm Photobooth: all day! Trick-or-treating: all day! (participating vendors will be identified). 

Rutherford Haunt with the Lights On | October 27 

Halloween is here Freak Fans and we hope to see all you creepy loving people out at Rutherford Manor Haunt. We are open for an additional day this year, so come join us on the Day of the Dead for some extra scares. We have some truly special stuff ready for you this year and we know that many of you will scream!!!

Headless Carrot Halloween Party | October 27 

Trick or treat?! Prizes for best costume. Join us for fire pits, marshmallows, live music, games, and more spooky fun! At the party, they will be happily accepting donations of gently used clothing and footwear for the community.

Boo at the Zoo | October 27 

Come closer, be not afraid. The Edmonton Valley Zoo invites you to come down and enjoy Boo! at the Zoo! This family friendly Halloween hootenanny is sure to delight everyone. There will be all sorts of great things to see and do, hands on science, treat stops, an extinct animal graveyard, magic shows and much more. Come dressed up in your costume and enjoy a spooky Sunday at the Zoo.

Fright Night at Galaxyland | TBD

Kick off your Halloween weekend at Galaxyland with the return of Fright Night! The music will be loud, the lights dimmed and the rides unlimited!

The Great Pumpkin Event 

On Tuesday October 29th, our Parkdale grounds will be filled with hundreds of community members dressed up in their scariest, funniest and most clever costumes as we celebrate Halloween! We’ll have wieners to roast on an open flame and hot chocolate to keep you warm! The Zombie run, Haunted Hallway, Horse wagon rides and more spooky activities will keep your little ones occupied!

Halloween Themed Playdate at Kingsway Kids Space | October 30 

Come join the fun at Kingsway Mall, the weekly playdate for kids. This week will feature Halloween themed crafts and games for toddlers and preschoolers.

Haunted Show Home in Cy Becker | October 31

From 3pm – 5pm there will be no actors in the haunted house so if you want to come for the kid friendly portion this would be the best time to come. Parent descression advised. From 5pm to 11pm there will be actors inside to add that extra depth or horror.
