Fun fall activities in Edmonton

Summer might still be clinging on for a few last days in the sun, but fall is right around the corner. How do you like to spend crisp fall days? The perfect activity can be difficult to pin down, but this does not mean that you cannot have fun trying to find the right fit! Some people enjoy spending time outside looking at pumpkins and enjoying apple cider, while others prefer cozy time spent indoors as the wind howls outside. No matter what your idea of a great time is, we are confident that we can help you find something to do.

Let’s take a look at some of the top activities to keep in mind this fall!

Edmonton Fall Home Show

Whether you are buying, building or renting, your home is an important oasis from daily stressors, and it is normal to want it to be ‘perfect’. Achieving perfection is more difficult, of course, but the Edmonton Fall Home Show is the perfect place to get ideas that get you one step closer.

Located in the Edmonton Expo Centre October 15th through 17th, the Edmonton Fall Home Show is a vibrant destination filled with everything from home goods and services to building industry experts. The event has more than 150 booths and a ‘best price guarantee’ that offers buyers exclusive deals on various products and services. The latter is particularly exciting as many of the deals in question will only be available to individuals at the home show.

Do not worry if you have children to bring along! The Edmonton Fall Home Show offers all manner of activities to keep the whole family engaged. This includes playsets for your little ones, fun TV personalities, and unique workshops in addition to everything outlined above.

Fall Swap Meet

Are you a model train fan? Whether you like collecting figurines or simply enjoy watching completed train sets fly around their tracks, the Fall Swap Meet is the event for you. Located at the Central Lions Senior Recreation Centre on October 23rd, this event is a favourite of model train enthusiasts all over the region. You can purchase locomotives, rail cars, tracks, model buildings, books, electrical components and much more!

The Fall Swap Meet is a family-friendly environment that offers something for everyone. Children will enjoy watching the assembled train sets amble along, and Tim Horton’s coffee is provided to keep you energized. For just $2, you can claim a medium cup, while $1 is enough for a small cup of coffee. Hunt for great deals while enjoying a relaxing day out with the people you love.

Note that face masks are required!

DARK and Dead Centre of Town (DCoT)

What would fall be without elaborate Halloween-flavoured activities? We do not want to find out! Luckily, with events such as DARK, we won’t have to.

Hosted by Fort Edmonton Park, DARK is a spooky experience that takes place at night from October 7th to 31st from 7pm to 11pm. The event takes visitors on a tour through the scarier parts of River Valley and places an emphasis on terrifying tales and confounding circumstances. Do you want to take part in something truly unforgettable that is sure to imbue you with Halloween spirit?

For those who prefer something a bit more theatrical and elaborate, Dead Centre of Town (DCoT) might be the perfect choice. Presented by Catch the Keys, the event, which takes place at the Capitol Theatre, is an immersive retelling of some of the most infamous of Edmonton’s supernatural tales. Consider maximizing the thrills with a ticket bundle that also grants you access to DARK.

Edmonton Comics & Entertainment Expo

If you would like to spend some time away from your favourite online games, this event might be for you. Taking place from October 1st to 3rd, the Edmonton Comics & Entertainment Expo is a great way to spend your free time. The expo focuses on all things related to pop culture and is back for the first time in almost two years! From artisans to niche treasure, the event is an opportunity to hunt through the eclectic and find your new favourite style.

The Edmonton Comics & Entertainment Expo takes place at the Edmonton Expo Centre from 4pm to 5pm, and you can purchase tickets as well as limited edition packages and three-day event passes. Cosplay is not required, but you are more than welcome to don your favourite costume if you would like to show it off!

Edmonton Craft Beer Festival

Taking place at the Edmonton Expo Centre on October 22nd and 23rd, the Edmonton Craft Beer Festival is a surprisingly diverse festival with much more than a great selection of beer. Foodies, in particular, will want to keep an eye on this event as some of Edmonton’s best restaurants will be offering samples and specials. Of course, those who wish to imbibe will also find plenty to love as there are more than 500 choices of beers from more than 100 breweries.

The Craft Beer Festival also features food and beer pairings, craft spirit education, various seminars and a wide range of meads, ciders and other beverage options. It truly is a great fit for anyone who enjoys spending a bit of time out of the house with good food and entertainment.

October Fall Craft & Vendor Market

Last, but certainly not least, the October Fall Craft & Vendor Market takes place on October 16th and 17th at the Norwood Legion. The event allows local artists and other vendors to show off their wares and is filled with a diverse array of crafters and direct sales home businesses. More than 40 vendors will be in attendance and the October Fall Craft & Vendor Market is free to visit. You might even be lucky enough to score a door prize!

Fall is the perfect time to indulge in cozy activities and crafts! Whether you attend one of the above events or another of the many options that the city has to offer, you are sure to have a great time.
