Get in the Driver’s Seat at the Aviation Museum at Open Cockpit Day

Mark your calendars! It’s the fifth annual Open Cockpit Day on September 14, 2019 will be your chance to get into the ‘driver’s seat’ of many of our vintage aircraft, from bush planes to jets. It’s the one day each year that visitors are allowed a unique opportunity to find out what it was like to fly the iconic aircraft that made Edmonton aviation history.

This year’s event will focus on simulators. Pilot a First World War biplane in the Ace Flight Academy Experience exhibit on loan from the Canada Air and Space Museum. Check out our new Redbird flight simulators or try your hand at piloting a lumbering four-engine airliner in our DC-6 simulator.

We will also be unveiling a brand new exhibit featuring the University of Alberta’s AlbertaSat project, which has already designed, built and launched one satellite into space and is working on another. Students from the project will also be on hand to talk about their work.
