The Little Red Riding Hood Puppet Show

Take one girl equipped with a basket of goodies, add one grandma on bed rest and combine with the likes of one seemingly nice wolf lurking about mischievously. Now toss in one nature loving interpreter and you have the ingredients of a new delectable Kaybridge Puppet show ready to delight kids of all ages with every surprising bite!

Laser City PD Day Camp 

No School? No Problem! Sign up for one of our Day Camps! Need to keep the kids busy and having fun for the day? We’ve got just the thing with our Laser Tag and Mini Paintball Day Camps. For Ages 6 – 12. 

Gluten Free Cupcake & Cookie Decorating 

The local Gluten Free Baker from GF KOB (Kid Okay’d Bakery) will be hosting a class on how to decorate gluten free cupcakes and sugar cookies for Valentines.  You will learn how to use Royal Icing to decorate your sugar cookies … they will look like they came from a bakery!  The cupcakes will be decorated with butter icing and chocolate.  The idea for this class is to teach some decorating skills and have the ability to decorate some lovely treats for your celiac or gluten sensitive loved one for Valentines … or save your creations for them! The class is $20 and will be held in a classroom in the  Beaumont Community Centre.

Michaels MakeBreak Lovefest 

This weekend at Michaels stores, you can take part in crafts like: Lots of Love t-shirt (buy the t-shirt and decorate with supplies for free), Make Valentine’s Day Cards, Decorate Sweettheart Cookies, Fabulous Friendship Bracelets

Slime Party at Indigo Sherwood Park

Indigo is excited to partner with Mad Science this New Year to bring your child a science-based “Slime Party”. Your child will become a junior scientist for the hour or so, having the opportunity to experience real live science by solving science mysteries. Kids will be dazzled by a spectacular “Fire and Ice show” including special dry ice effects. Kids will also enjoy the SLIME activity and learn the basics of molecular bonding while making their own gooey, gooey Mad Science Slime to take home and so much more. Kids will enjoy spectacular fun, safe, and hands-on activities presented by dynamic instructors using professional equipment and kids are “turned-on” to science! Ages 5+​. Tickets are $20.

Cheap Family Ski at Rabbit Hill

Join us for a night of skiing or snowboarding at Rabbit Hill. All tickets include rentals, a beginner lesson (if desired), and a lift pass. This event is OPEN TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS! So please feel free to share and invite your friends and family. Tickets are $15 per person for members and $20 per person for non-members*.

Dovercourt Winter Carnival

Winter Carnival Returns! Mark your calendar. Join us Saturday, Feb 8, 2020 from 12-3 pm for an afternoon of snacks, games, friends, and of course, a horse and sleigh ride!

Fire Sculpture at Silver Skate Festival

Fire Sculpture Daytime Build & Evening Burn at Silver Skate 2020 in Hawrelak Park with Returning Fire Sculpture Artists – Dina Dumonceaux, Tim Rosen, Dimitri Baloukov and Loren Albrecht. Stop by on Saturday February 8th throughout the day to see our progress and interact with the artists. Stick around for the burn at 7:45pm. It’s free but the festival will gladly accept donations. Frozen 2 Movie Night in McLeod

Doors open at 5:00pm. Movie starts at 6:00 pm Concession will be selling hotdogs, popcorn, cotton candy, beverages, and candy. Bring your pillows and sleeping bags! All chairs will be restricted to the outer spaces of the hall to make room for maximum floor space for those bringing floor mats and sleeping bags. Come dressed as your favourite character and get a free treat.

Pop up Touchable Kids Museum

We believe the funnest way to learn is hands-on and asking questions! Adam Hope, naturalist with a BSc in Animal Biology and Jess Wilde, wilderness educator, will be bringing the coolest natural items they have made or found. Some of the featured items include arrowheads, skulls, animal tracks, wings, mushrooms, hides as well as hand made spoons, bowls, ropes and baskets from plants. You can learn how to make your own rope from plants too!

Learn to Skate FREE Drop in

Fun and basic skills are the focus of these free drop-in skating sessions delivered by the City. This program is targeted for children (ages 6-12) and their families, however, all are welcome to attend! Participants must have their own skates. A CSA approved helmet is mandatory for participation. The program will cancel at -23 degrees Celsius with the wind-chill or if the ice is unusable as deemed by the facility.

Get Outside and Play with the Winter Green Shack

Get active this winter and learn to kicksled, snowshoe, cook outdoors and so much more!
This program is targeted for children aged 6-12, but all children accompanied by an adult are welcome to attend.

Strathcona Community League Winter Fest

Come out to the Strathcona Community Hall on Sunday, February 9th between 2:00 and 5:00 PM for an afternoon of free family fun! There will be plenty to do – including: Free BBQ and Warm Drinks* Ice Skating Sleigh Rides Kids Carnival (indoors) Chili Cookoff (with prizes!!)** Fire Pits Outdoor Activities.

Decorate a Cake with Your Kiddo

Recommended for children 6-12. Must be accompanied by an adult. 1 adult can bring more than 1 child. Only need to register for the child. Each child needs there own spot.
