Pinball Machine, Wall Doodling and Brunch Poutine at The Local Omnivore

You know the places where you feel like you’ve got to shush your kids while you’re eating? The places where you don’t feel comfortable engaging in a game of ‘heads up’ on your phone while you wait with the kids, because things can get a little – well, boistrous?

The Local Omnivore is one of our favourite places to brunch with the kids because you can toss all that pretense out the door. Bring your quarters (games of pinball are fifty cents on the vintage machine) and grab a sharpie to leave your mark on the wall.

You’re going to enjoy incredible service, delicious food with extra-generous portion sizes and a brunch that’s not going to leave you unsatisfied because you’ve chosen a place with a kids menu.

There are high chairs for young children, booth seating for families but if you want to avoid the rush go early-late, so you can skip waiting too long for a table as there are no reservations. Seating is first come, first serve.

Long Weekend Sundays

Every long weekend Sunday TLOi serves a pancake breakfast. This service features a set menu with rotating features to choose from. Our regular menu items are not available on these Sundays. Peep our social media to see what will be on it next time.

Our top suggestions: get a breakfast for kids to share, that way they can try a couple of things and you can half-half between them if they’re young. The brunch pirate poutine is always a hit with our kids (skip it if you’ve got kids that don’t enjoy a hint of spice), and you can get the holandaise on the side. We love the philly cheese, and if you want to check out the menu before you go, you can do that, right here. Brunch at the Local Omnivore is served up daily until three o’clock and is best described as food that’s not going to leave you hungry, from the basic plate (great for less adventuruous kids) to the Broke Back breakfast that brings you a sampling of house made meats, we’re willing to bet you’re going to love it.

Pro tip: don’t skip dessert, and grab a few sausages to bring home and grill up!

Find The Local Omnivore in Holland Plaza, 10933 120 Street and browse the menu and find more information at www.thelocalominvore.com.
