What to do in Edmonton this Weekend (with Kids) September 27-29

We’ve been so fortunate to enjoy the mild fall weather – and we’re making the most of it! Outdoor festivals, the chance to discover a new neighbourhood and take advantage of free admission to some of our favourite Edmonton attractions. Here’s what’s going on in Edmonton this weekend – for you to entertain the kids (on the cheap!). 


Alberta Culture Days
Experience Alberta’s largest celebration of arts, heritage, diversity and community spirit. Alberta Culture Days is an opportunity to discover, experience and celebrate arts and culture through local events and activities across the province. You can even get free admission to the Royal Alberta Museum, all weekend long.

Harvest Festival in Stony Plain
Come to our annual Harvest Festival to see grain being harvested the old fashioned way with our vintage machinery. The church service is at 10am, this includes music on our vintage pump organ. Family activities start at 11am, with live music, machinery of all shapes and sizes, sparkle tattoos, a balloon artist, horse and wagon rides, gold panning and more! The Tea House will be serving delicious soups and pies between 11am and 3pm. Please note that bad weather can limit some of the activities, such as the horses and threshing, but the event will go ahead regardless of weather.

Explore Castledowns Fire Station 
Community residents will have the opportunity to meet the firefighters and fire prevention officers in their community, check out the fire trucks and learn important fire safety information in order to ensure their families are fire safe.

Kids Day Out at the Melting Pot 
You might not live in a pineapple, but you’ll definitely feel like you’re under the sea!
