Your Guide to Christmas Glow – Here’s what to know Before you Go

Light up swings! Instagrammable photo opportunities everywhere you look! A huge indoor lights festival to get you in the mood for Christmas without freezing your toes off, outdoors – Christmas Glow has come to the Enjoy Centre with a half a million lights to explore through the Christmas extravaganza.

There are multiple activities for kids and families when you visit Glow Gardens, including: visiting with Santa, the Magical playground, LED Hopscotch and lights, Icicles, play areas for kids, incredible indoor lights displays and cool, light-up cups that you can take home with you.

Here’s what you should know before you go:

  • Where to Park
Parking is going to be tricky – especially during the more popular times (hello weekends, I’m looking at you). There’s a shuttle from the parking lot to the Enjoy Centre to make this process a little easier.
  • Check your Coat!
The festival is indoors – and it’s filled with people, and warm in there. You’re going to want to check your coat – it’s well worth the two dollars. With the gift shop and the fancy, light-up, light-bulb cups, you’re going to have enough to carry around. Plus, you’re going to need a free hand to enjoy the swings and the many, many photo opps.
  • Washrooms
The washrooms are located just outside of the entrance for the exhibit. Go to the washroom before you go into the exhibit. There’s plenty for your kids to explore and you could easily spend the better part of an hour inside, so skip the whole ‘having to get stamped’ to return back into the festival, and take the kids to the washroom before you enter Christmas Glow.
  • Admission Costs
It’s $69.99 for admission for a family to Christmas Glow (2 adults + 3 kids). It’s a bit spendy but for the swings and a visit with Santa (more on that below), it’s worth it as one of the paid admission events to celebrate Christmas in Edmonton. There are frequently codes being shared on the Glow Christmas social media pages between 25-30% off to help reduce this price, and make it just a little bit more affordable. Children under three are free with a paying adult.
  • Scheduled Tickets
When you choose your tickets for Christmas Glow, you’ll be given the option to choose a time slot. We found this to be an effective way to control the amount of people inside the lights festival at any given time, and it didn’t feel crowded on an weekday evening when we explored the space.
  • Meet Santa and Characters
Here’s the thing, you might see Santa Claus when you visit Christmas Glow. Don’t promise the kids a visit with the big guy because there is actually no set schedule for when he will make an appearance, but he will be there during the event. You might just get lucky and get a chance to sit on his lap. No photos are available, but you can take your own.

Visit www.glowgardens.com for tickets – the spectacular lights festival will be in Edmonton until January 19, 2018 so you won’t have to worry about fitting in a visit before the holidays.
