This December, Zoominescence, hosted by the Valley Zoo Development Society, will stage a spectacular exhibition of artistic light installations within the unique setting of the Edmonton Valley Zoo. The festival’s vision is to celebrate light, artistry, imagination and the strong spirit of our community in the winter. Join us for an evening of light, animals, skating, hot chocolate and fun for the whole family! Running every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, plus the 26th & 27th!

Magic of Lights at Castrol Raceway
The Canadian Tire Magic of Lights is 2 kilometers of festive and vibrant LED lighted displays celebrating the joy of the holidays. A “drive through” experience from the comfort of your own car. At every turn, and in every direction, the magical route is overflowing with spectacular light displays and animations. Christmas Glow Edmonton

Free Admission Day at Elk Island Park
It’s the first weekend of winter and Elk Island National Park is celebrating with free entry Saturday, December 22. Make the short drive east of Edmonton and discover all the winter activities to enjoy at Elk Island National Park. Come at dawn or dusk for the best chance to view wildlife, spend the afternoon skating or snowshoeing across a frozen Astotin Lake*, or cuddle up around the campfire and catch an early sunset.
Free Family Christmas Skate
Join us for an afternoon for Christmas Family FREE Skate on Saturday, December 22nd from 2pm to 5pm. Free cookies and hot chocolate, visit from Santa, music and photo booth for the whole family to enjoy. All ages are welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult. Children must bring their own helmet. No sticks or pucks allowed, skate rentals not available on site.
Skate with Santa at Bonnie Doon
Take a spin in our Winter Wonderland…with Santa!! ⛸🎅 Celebrate the opening of our pop up ice rink with Santa on December 20 & 21 from 2pm-5pm and December 22 from 12pm-3pm! The rink will be open on Thursdays-Sundays until the ice melts in March. ☕️🤗Enjoy hot chocolate and snacks sponsored by Tim Hortons on activity dates that will be announced soon. And keep and eye out for free holiday train rides in January!
Santa Skate at TLC
