Friday 

Silver Skate Festival

Each year, the festival transforms Hawrelak Park into a winter wonderland with fun for the entire family. Here, you’ll discover breathtaking snow sculpture, winter sports, and horse-drawn sleighs carrying families through the park. Sit in a Cree Winter Camp and cook bannock over an open fire. Compete in the winter triathlon or speed skating events. Take in live music and theatrical performances with your friends and loved ones. Our festival activities are as diverse as the people who call our Northern community home.

Peter Rabbit Needs a Valentine

Peter Rabbit is in town and it’s Valentines Day! All of the animals are invited to celebrate, but no one has come. Through fun games and activities, we’ll discover how animals adapt to the seasons and make their homes in Edmonton! Friday, Feb. 14, 2020. 12:30 – 2 pm. Cost: $23 This is a drop-off program for children 3-5 years old.

Valentine’s Day Snow Tubing at Sunridge

Friday Night Snow Tubing! Spend the evening on the hill snow tubing with live music on the hill. Grab a beer from the local visiting brewery and warm up by the fire pits. Ticket includes unlimited tubing between 8-10 pm and one drink ticket. This event is all ages – children must be seven years old for snow tubing.

Symphony of Magic at Winspear

You’ll be amazed by the interactive, suspenseful, cutting-edge illusions like levitation, teleportation, and impossible escapes, synchronized seamlessly to magical symphonic selections from *Harry Potter*, *Beauty and the Beast,* *Aladdin*, *E.T.*, and so much more in this spectacular show for the whole family!

Kids Eat Free at Famoso 

This weekend, kids eat free at Famoso Magrath. February 15,16 and 17, kids under twelve eat for free at Famoso and it’s your chance to dine out with the kids, on the cheap! 

The Peking Acrobats

For the last thirty two years, The Peking Acrobats have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese aerobatics. They perform daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs and display their technical prowess at such arts as trick-cycling, precision tumbling, juggling, somersaulting, and gymnastics. They push the limits of human ability, defying gravity with amazing displays of contortion, flexibility, and control. The Peking Acrobats are often accompanied by live musicians who skillfully play traditional Chinese music coalesces with high-tech special effects and awe-inspiring acrobatic feats, creating an exuberant entertainment event with the festive pageantry of a Chinese Carnival. 

Saturday 

Learn to Skate FREE Drop in

Fun and basic skills are the focus of these free drop-in skating sessions delivered by the City. This program is targeted for children (ages 6-12) and their families, however, all are welcome to attend! Participants must have their own skates. A CSA approved helmet is mandatory for participation. The program will cancel at -23 degrees Celsius with the wind-chill or if the ice is unusable as deemed by the facility.

Get Outside and Play with the Winter Green Shack

Get active this winter and learn to kicksled, snowshoe, cook outdoors and so much more!
This program is targeted for children aged 6-12, but all children accompanied by an adult are welcome to attend.

Sunday 

Meet a Live Owl at Greenland Family Fun Day 

Family FUNday Sunday at Greenland! Sunday, February 16th, from 1-4pm join us for free hayrides, hot chocolate, and a marshmallow roast. The Strathcona Raptor Shelter will be here with Sir Oliver and the Edmonton Reptile and Amphibian Society will also be here. Some of the reptiles and amphibians will be available to hold and take pictures with. Come on out with the family!

Pancake Breakfast and Skating  

Come join us for our Family Day celebration! There will be live music, delicious pancakes and many friendly faces. Breakfast is only $2 per person. The skating rink will open after breakfast, so be sure to bring your skates!

Frosty Fun Day at the Snowman Festival in Morinville

A frosty day of inside and outside fun for the community! Family Day Unplugged – Disconnect to Connect Whether at the Snowman Festival or participating in family activities at home take the opportunity to unplug from electronics and plug into family time.
