Ultimate Guide to Kid-Friendly New Year’s Eve Celebrations in Edmonton

New Year’s Even with the kids is something that we typically celebrate before bedtime, having our own ‘midnight countdown’ while the kids are still young enough to be tricked into the fact that Midnight is actually 8:30. Afterwards, we head out for a quiet dinner together, reflecting on the year that has passed by by.

Downtown New Year’s Celebration 

This free, fun-filled, non-alcoholic family event will start inside City Hall at 7pm with kids’ crafts and activities, magicians, balloon artists, face painters and live music.
The fun will continue outdoors with music, hay rides, free skate rentals, ice skating, bannock-making and food concessions, all leading up to a spectacular fireworks show at midnight.
Main stage entertainment will begin at 9:15pm in Churchill Square

Family Beach Ball at the World Waterpark 

Start the year off right at our annual New Year’s Eve Family Beach Ball, presented by World Waterpark. Celebrate with family and friends in a tropical environment, splashing in the world’s largest indoor wave pool and speeding down waterslides! The night will end with a bang and a one-of-a-kind indoor fireworks display. Event begins at 6pm and goes until Midnight.

Strathcona County New Year’s Eve Festival 

There’s tons of family fun this year at the Broadmoor Lake Park, Community Centre and Festival Place celebration. Activities for the whole family can be found between 4-8 pm. It’s a fun and free way to ring in the new year, taking part in the Winter Wonderland festival.

Countdown at the Conservatory

Ring in 2016 early in the day in this fun and very family friendly event! Families will have a chance to count down every hour and enjoy some frivolity at our New Years event that is sure to be fun for everyone! If you’ve got plans to go out during the evening, this afternoon festival and countdown is the perfect way to celebrate with the kids (since it takes place between 10-2).

This is the seventh annual New Year’s Eve Benefit for the Edmonton Food Bank. Come for a relaxing, mellow evening of folk music, children’s activities, refreshments and desserts before you head out to Churchill Square for the fireworks and to welcome the New Year!
