Top 10 Places to Play Indoors in Edmonton

If there’s something it doesn’t lack in Edmonton, it’s indoor playgrounds. You can find multiple playgrounds in every section of the city making it easy to find somewhere to play when it’s cold out – or if you’ve just had too much sun and are searching for a morning to spend in a cool, air conditioned environment.

We’ve been to 90% of the indoor playgrounds in the city – and some other spaces that are fun to play in, and have found a few favorites that we want to share with you.

Here are the top ten indoor playgrounds in Edmonton:

1. Telus World of Science
If you haven’t considered Telus World of Science as one of the most popular places to play indoors in Edmonton, you’ve got to add it to your list. From the great toddler area, to the place where little kids can play aircraft, play with water or simply run around and check out the exhibits, there’s so much to do. The annual membership is well worth the cost, and enables you to play for less, all through the year.

2. Millennium Place Shell Edutainment Center
From the fun treehouse to climb, the two interactive side playrooms, play structures and climbing wall to the fact that Millennium Place Shell Edutainment center is always filled with kids, there’s a ton of reasons to check it out during the summer months. For tweens and teens, there’s a whole separate area with games like air hockey, drop in sports and an electronic playground.

3. Millennium Place Swimming Pool
Getting in the water doesn’t mean that you have to spend more time in the sun! There’s even a wave pool and a lazy river to get excited, without having to get too hot. The fun pool is always filled with kids, features three different slides, lots of splashing fun and there are inflatables on the weekend (Call ahead for schedule). Family admission is around $20.

4. John Janzen Nature Center
Giving you the chance to get outside and explore after you’ve cooled off, or a chance to play during a winter day when you can’t take being cooped up in the house, you can climb through a bee hive and play in the playground that offers lots of fun for little kids.

5. Santa Maria, West Edmonton Mall
Walking through the mall, there’s lots to do and see, but what’s better than to play pretend on a pirate ship? For a small fee, you can walk on the ship and let your imagination take hold as the kids run around and enjoy the authentic Santa Maria feeling. Go in the morning, there’s usually no one on board.

6. Hide n Seek Indoor Playground
One of the largest indoor playgrounds in Edmonton, Hide N Seek is located in the West End and has some great specials near closing time. The indoor playground has lots to do inside, snacks available, and even features a zipline for adventurous children. It’s a fun way to stay in the shade, but can get quite busy.

7. U Play Edmonton
The trampoline park and indoor playground have some fun features inside like the treehouse climbing structure for older children or the four wave slides that our kids love going down over, and over, and over. If you don’t feel like playing, you can go for a bounce in the trampoline park.

8. Strathcona County Library
With lots of drop in and registered programs available, tons of space to read a book from a tree (or find something hidden in the secret compartment), this is one of the most libraries in the area to read at.

9. Ardrossan Love to Play Center
Let your imagination take you there at Love to Play in Ardrossan Recreation Complex. We take pride in our mission to prepare children to succeed as preschoolers, help families live healthy lives and nurture a new generation of creative and global citizens. Check out the drop-in times.

10. Galaxyland
If you’ve got kids under the age of two, you’re going to be able to play for free. On weekdays, this is one of the least busiest places to play in the city and through the school year you can get in for cheap to play on the giant structure inside. It’s perfect for small kids, as there’s the baby and toddler area, and larger kids can roam the structures with their friends.
